Technology Feature of the Month:
Online Backup Solutions

The success of your business could be determined by how successfully you can recover from a server failure resulting in critical data loss. Many companies simply trust that their backups are running smoothly, only to find that mission-critical data may not be recoverable. In addition, many companies are treating all data the same, instead of prioritizing which data would need to be restored most quickly after a failure.

The experts estimate that 60 to 70 percent of mission-critical data is stored at off-site locations, and according to the U.S. Census Bureau there are more than one million remote office/branch office (ROBO) sites nationwide.

In response to these needs, CPR has introduced Protect – an online backup service that allows customers to back up, recover and protect their critical data. An agentless online backup and restore solution for distributed environments, Protect safeguards all your mission critical information whether the data is on laptops, desktops or servers.

If you are struggling with the “operational headaches” that come along with backups, data loss, long downtime during restores, and if you must deal with security and compliance issues, then CPR’s Protect service can help address your concerns.

Locally stored and fully encrypted in CPR’s Data Center, Protect is designed to fully automate the backup/recovery process, while ensuring the security of your data.

Business Continuity Planning: Are you prepared?
Individual Appointments Available with CPR’s Business Continuity Specialists

CPR recently hosted a business continuity planning seminar – the response to this event reemphasized the importance of business continuity planning to our customers. The duties of assuring auditors, business owners and shareholders that you are taking the appropriate steps to plan and prepare for a business interruption often fall on the shoulders of the Technology Department. While this is the case, the process of building a plan involves all departments of an organization.

In response to the overwhelming interest in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planning, CPR is scheduling individual appointments with our Business Continuity Specialists. The week of September 11 – 14th Robert Baldyga will come to your facility and meet with you to help determine your company's next steps.

If you are interested in a one-on-one appointment, please contact Jamie Metcalf to schedule your time.

Leveraging your Software Purchases
Navigating the intricacies of software licensing can be a challenge. CPR employs a full time specialist who focuses on helping customers assess, plan for and realize the benefits available from their licensing purchases. Sue Bishop is a Microsoft Licensing Champion and has worked with customers to help them get the most out of their software purchases and plan for future growth.

Sue has a few tips for customers who are contemplating software purchases in the near future:
If you are thinking of purchasing Microsoft Office Professional in the next year – now is the time to buy. There are many cash-back rebates available, and one great promotion (https://www.microsoftincentives.com/OfficeOpenRebate/) ends September 30, 2006.
Purchasing with Software Assurance allows you to spread your payments over three years without interest and you can still take advantage of cash rebates.
Consider purchasing Office Professional instead of Office Standard – the rebates can make the Office Professional a better deal.
Combine offers – there are many promotions available. Don’t assume that your purchase is not large enough to qualify.

If you are interested in learning more about the benefits of software assurance and promotions and how they apply to your company, click here and Sue will contact you to discuss your needs.
