Computer Data Forensics & Investigation
A computer in nearly every home and office across America means that the sharing of information is extensive. Millions of documents, emails, and files are continually transferred across networks. Unfortunately this technology has offered a new medium for fraud and abuse. In response to these concerns, CPR has developed a comprehensive security practice to address this growing threat. CPR’s security consulting practice addresses the need for computer data forensics to assist the legal, law enforcement and private investigative professions with the retrieval, storage and analysis of computer based forensic data.
Forensic Investigative Services
CPR’s forensic security investigators will extract forensic copies of suspect hard drives for the purpose of assisting with an investigation. CPR will make arrangements to be provided temporary access to the suspect computer for the purpose of creating a legally admissible forensic copy of a hard drive. CPR utilizes a well documented and industry accepted process to achieve this forensic copy while following all rules of engagement and maintaining proper evidence collection methods. In some cases, CPR will video tape the evidence collection process for future review by interested parties.
Data Extraction and Analysis
Receiving direction from the client, the CPR team will work to extract evidence related to the investigation. Data is extracted from the “live” data space and slack areas on the hard drive. Relevant data is provided to the client on CDROM and/or DVD. A summary report accompanies the extracted data providing the client with the process used to achieve the end-result.
